About

Author

Author Tod Ghormley built this lovely tree house for his grandchildren during the Covid-19 pandemic. It turned out to be a bigger project than planned, but the first time the grandchildren lay in the net between the two platforms, one of them said as he relaxed in the net-like hammock, “Papa, I’m living the dream!”

Tod and his wife, Mimi, have been in marketplace ministry for over thirty years, living for the purposes of the Kingdom of Christ becoming manifest on the earth. Tod’s greatest desire is to see people follow Jesus and he has pursued this passion through his medical practice of Orthopedics. Mimi’s passions are related to prayer counseling, specifically seeing people released from emotional struggles by the Word of God and the presence of Christ in those places in their hearts.

Tod and Mimi have been married for 43 years and have two children, Ben and Megan, and 5 grandchildren. They were married as Tod was going into medical school and the next approximately 10 years were spent focusing on Tod’s orthopedic training and raising their family in Texas. The busyness of these years was filled with Mimi’s training in Child Evangelism and conducting many backyard Bible Clubs and Tod mentoring the young men in his residency program and in private practice through the Christian Medical & Dental Association.

After residency and upon moving to Conway, Arkansas to set up practice, Tod, a member of the reserves, was called to serve in Desert Storm as a surgeon in a field hospital on the border of Iraq. His gift of evangelism flourished as Mimi and the kids sent box after box of Bibles to the troops and he conducted Bible studies before and after the ground war. Tod also served in the USMC as an infantryman and helped in the evacuation of Saigon.

There was a deep desire on both of their parts to reach unreached people and when their youngest Megan, was 10 they started going on yearly short-term missions as a family. Ten years of mission work (medical and school-oriented) in Honduras ensued, and in the last 15 years, they have focused on India and Nepal with other trips to Peru, Thailand, Haiti, El Salvador, Togo, Gambia, and Sri Lanka. These trips have been the highlights of the year as they watch God working so powerfully in people’s lives revealing the hope of Jesus.

In their 33 years in Conway, they have been involved in church as elders, prayer ministry leaders, small group leaders, teachers, counselors, and mentors. They have as well been on the Board of Excel (a state-wide school-oriented Christian mentor and training program). Their great delight is their five grandchildren, all 10 and under, and one of the burning purposes for this season of life is to pass on the heritage of the love of Jesus to this next generation. This year, they are publishing a family devotional book called “No Greater Love…an angelic view of history”.

Illustrator

Veronica Lake artist and illustrator

Illustrator Veronica Lake is a passionate realist with an impressionistic slant to her landscape and still-life paintings. Her desire is to stir an emotional response of hope, wellness, and goodness. She uses e a variety of techniques from pouring, throwing, resists, collage, metallics, and mixed media art to convey the mood she wishes to express in her art. Light is an important element in her pieces because she believes it reveals truth and provides us with a way to see into the heart of the Creator of all things. The concept of rebirth and hope is further emphasized in her frequent use of water as a symbol both in content and context. Veronica finds water-based paints best illuminate this metaphor for her.

She is the “wind behind my sails” who has supported and encouraged me throughout the years of making my passion for making Jesus known into a reality. She has helped write parts of this book and edit out sections that were unnecessary. Thank you for giving this book clarity and for your future support in promoting the spread of the gospel and the greatness of our God. You bring life and love to everyone you touch with your spirit!

My sister and brother-in-law…..thank you for being in on the foundation of writing and editing “No Greater Love”. Y’all really helped turn this book into a metanarrative or the big picture of God’s history throughout all time. Now everyone can really see His Majesty and Great Love for His creatures in the sacrifice He makes for all of us. Roy, you are just the right person for Veronica to paint as Sotiris….an angel after God’s own heart!

Thank you for also writing parts of this book and especially for your anointed gift of worship. You have brought the joy of being in God’s presence by the songs you write & sing, by choosing the songs for each section, and helping craft the meditation exercises that help all of us hear from God. No one else wakes up every morning singing to Jesus like you do!
